Book club with public speaking will provide a way for students to engage in critical thinking and reflection as they read, discuss, and respond to books that intend to be engaging, yet challenge them. Students will learn to dig into the literature and to deeply discuss the books while also learning to identify literary elements. This class will also have a public speaking component where the students will receive instruction in basic presentation skills. They will be given the opportunity several times throughout the year to practice those skills by preparing and presenting a book project or book review in front of their classmates. A partial book list will be provided prior to the beginning.
