Description: In the Economics and Entrepreneurship course, participants will engage in hands-on activities to explore essential economic and business principles. Through a class-run business game, students will assume various roles, collaborating in teams to maximize profits while learning about key concepts such as profit, loss, net worth, accounting, and marketing. They will plan and launch their own businesses, selling goods at in-school fairs and participating in two events throughout the year, using the “More Than a Lemonade Stand” program by Julie Ann Wood as a foundation. Students will showcase their learning on two occasions throughout the school year where they will plan a business, create a product, market it to their audience, and sell it at an in-school market. Students will seek initial investments from parents to fund their business and repay the loan after each sale. High-achieving or highly interested students will be encouraged to pursue their entrepreneurial interests over the summer, building on the skills they’ve developed in class.
