This is an introductory writing class using IEW’s Structure and Style method.
In this engaging, skill-building writing course, students will use IEW’s Discoveries in Writing to learn clear, confident, and structured writing. Through step-by-step lessons, students will develop strong foundational skills—including outlining, summarizing, organizing ideas, using stylistic techniques, and editing their own work.
Throughout the year, students will write across a variety of topics, such as tsunamis, volcanoes, the Crusades, and the battle of Bunker Hill, completing assignments that build both creativity and academic writing confidence. They will practice key IEW skills such as dress-ups, sentence variations, and effective paragraph structure, while also learning to expand their vocabulary and improve sentence fluency.By the end of the course, students will have a solid toolkit for future writing success and a portfolio of polished compositions that reflect their growth.
