Must be 4 years old at the beginning of the school year. Our One-Day Pre-K Class emphasizes a balance between structured activities and free exploration, providing children with the skills they need for the next steps in their educational journey. With a focus on play-based learning, creativity, and positive social interaction, your child will have a fun, memorable, and enriching experience!
Our curriculum is based on the popular and proven program Sonlight.
Daily Schedule and Activities:
- Morning Circle Time: Students begin the day by gathering together for a welcoming circle. Here, they will sing songs, discuss the calendar, and participate in short, interactive activities that foster language development and group interaction.
- Story Time: A short story will be read aloud, encouraging listening skills, comprehension, and a love of reading. Children are invited to ask questions, share ideas, and make connections to their own lives.
- Presentations: Students will be given a rotating opportunity to share with their classmates according to an assigned theme or topic, to allow for development of public speaking skills as well as listening/audience skills.
- Pre-Academics: Structured learning activities fostering development of STEAM skills and appropriate classroom behavior.
- Outdoor Play: Time for free play in a safe outdoor space allows children to develop physical coordination, teamwork, and an appreciation for nature.
- Snack & Socializing: During snack time, students will practice self-regulation and manners while enjoying healthy snacks with their peers, offering a relaxed setting to build social skills.
- Learning Centers: Children will rotate between various learning centers, such as sensory tables, puzzles, or literacy stations, where they can explore topics like numbers, letters, shapes, and colors through hands-on activities.
- Closing Circle: The day ends with a closing circle where children reflect on what they’ve learned and share their favorite moments. This helps build confidence and communication skills.
