Explore a world of powerful gods, bold heroes, magical creatures, and timeless stories! Using D’Aulaire’s Book of Greek Myths, students will spend most of the year learning the major myths of ancient Greece while studying the hero’s cycle, epic hero traits, and the purpose of myths in ancient cultures. Students will choose a Greek god or goddess to research and present, create their own mythological hero and monster, and bring stories to life through reader’s theater.
In the final weeks we will shift to classic fairy tales—examining common folklore elements and writing original fairy tales of our own.
A creative blend of literature, performance, and storytelling, this class is perfect for students who love imagination and adventure.
