In this class, students will gain skills in reading and writing about literature through short stories and novel studies. Emphasis will be on constructing a well-written essay while also learning the building blocks of literary analysis.
This is normally the first English class a 9th grader will take at Thrive. Advanced 9th graders who read at a 10th grade level and are already proficient at writing essays may consider World Literature instead. Contact the instructor at stephanie.starr@thriveprepacademy.org with questions about placement.
This is an ideal class for any high school student who needs to hone their essay-writing skills and develop the skills necessary to read and analyze classic literature.
